What do you think is the most common New Year resolution? So my first blog post of the year covers my first trip to a gym in goodness knows how long. I don't want you to think that I'm an inactive person (I do play 5 a side football every Monday), however, the life of a blogger has resulted in too many meals out and my love handles have grown considerably.
So which gym did I sign up to? Unfortunately it wasn't my decision as TiredMummyofTwo controls the purse strings. If it were up to me though it would be a gym that had a bar, cafe, sauna and a jacuzzi.
I was pleasantly told by my wife that she had signed us both up to Pure Gym, which is great for two reasons, the first is that it's open 24/7 and the second is that there's loads of free classes we can attend throughout the week. Also, they have this really cool phone app that lets you book into classes, which can also tell you how many spaces are left.
The first class I attended was 'Pure Tabata', a fast 4 minute workout that had very few male participants. Can I just say that my hamstrings really hurt at the moment. I never knew how difficult squat thrusts really were.
So I've just spent the last 2 hours looking at great ways to increase muscle and reduce body fat, and the first thing I could think was to search the workout and diet plan for Captain America actor 'Chris Evans'. It seems that working those legs will make gaining muscle elsewhere and you don't need protein shakes. A large glass of milk and a banana before a gym visit is suffice.
Now let's wait and see if my new love affair with the gym can last still after January???
